Going Deeper with the New Album...

Image
I'm still singing a joyful noise for the Lord (Psalm 100:1)...but I feel God is working a little more out of me... You might've heard or read that my next album was going to be called, "A Joyful Noise." But I began to go deeper in my songwriting than I had originally planned (But God knew). I've been wanting to write a praise and worship album (still planned for this summer), all fun and upbeat; those songs like you sing in the beginning of your church service that speak of "God is our God forever" and it's a "Happy Day" because God is with us; and those are all great! I wanted to call it “a joyful noise” just because I love that Bible verse that calls us to make that noise (even named this blog after it, relating the posts to the songs of the album by the same name), and I love the imagery as it relates to music and worshiping God.   But as pen went to paper, and the fingers cried for the piano instead of the guitar, a...

Triumph Comes Out of Tragedy

Image
2017 was a rough year for many who were directly affected by the tragedies that struck throughout the year, as well as for all of us who mourned and prayed for them. 2018 hasn't started off well either. The shootings, hurricanes, typhoons, wildfires, earthquakes left many dead, injured and asking the universe, "why did this have to happen?" For many, including God-fearing Christians, it's hard to answer that question. Really, only one answer works, and it's still hard to swallow...God is God and He is in control. Even harder to take in is the thought that God "allowed" it to happen. A more truthful, Biblical answer is that God knew it was going to happen and allowed it to fulfill His grander purpose during these "end days" ( Mark 13:24-27; Ephesians 1:11; 2 Timothy 3:1-5; Rev. 11:18) . I wrote the song called, "Triumph and Tragedy" out of this hard-to-swallow pill that Job in the Bible took a lot easier than most of us could a...

The Greatest Gift of All

Image
This Christmas you could give a great gift to a friend which could be a great new song I’m releasing soon for the holidays. BUT... it wouldn’t be the “greatest gift.” My new single, releasing before this Christmas, "The Greatest Gift of All," tells the story of a young boy who didn’t have much, but heard about the greatest gift any one of us could receive or share...the gift of Jesus. A little over 2000 years ago, the God of the universe gave us His Son; a sacrificial gift of ransom for us (John 3:16-17). Because of that great gift, we, who have accepted the gift, believe in God and His Son, and have given over our sinful lives to Him and confessed all, have received eternal life. That’s the greatest gift ever if you ask me! And if you do ask me, I’ll tell you all about how Jesus saved me. You can share Jesus with people too, and it can start with friends and family; maybe even your spouse if they're in need of the gift of Jesus. Maybe it just starts with sharing...

Worship Leader With A Grateful Heart And A Positive Message To Share

Image
My life tells a story...just like your life. Ups and downs no doubt? Maybe more downs than ups? In October of 2004 I was finally broken, a drunkard, a liar, and at risk of losing my wife and my Air Force career. That's when I heard the voice. It was THE Voice. God was knocking on the door of my heart for the billionth time and it was time to wake up. I heard the message loud and clear for the first time, "follow me first and I can set things right." That night, October 26th, 2004, was my last drink of alcohol. I went to church, found some help, and turned on a fire for the Lord. My wife stuck it out with me, though not understanding at first, but loving the Lord, worked through the change and we mended our marriage.  God kept his promise. I began listening to praise and worship music on KLOVE radio. I heard for the first time, after always being moved by music, songs that made me feel good and made me want more of what these artists like Chris Tomlin and Cas...
